Abstract

This study combines criminological research with media and communication through the use of visual criminology methods. This approach is important for bridging the fields of criminology and media practice, while also offering a new perspective on understanding criminal phenomena and their impact on society. The main focus of this research is the misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology as a tool to create political hoax content in Indonesia, as well as observing the public's response as social media users to such hoaxes. This study analyzes 6 topics of hoax content on different social media platforms, which have been previously verified and published on the website turnbackhoax.id during the 2023–2024 period. The goal of this analysis is to identify patterns and forms of misuse carried out by hoax perpetrators who use AI technology as a tool to create political hoax content in Indonesia.
