Abstract

Theft is a criminal offense regulated in Articles 362 - 367 of the Criminal Code. The crime of theft with violence is regulated in Article 365 of the Criminal Code, which contains theft that is preceded, accompanied or followed by violence or threats of violence and the aim is to facilitate or prepare the theft. In Tenayan Raya Police Station, violent robberies are often highlighted, for example in online news. It has decreased in the last two years, but still exists. Because the theft with violence cannot be completely eradicated, there is need for countermeasures that can prevent the expansion and increase of this crime. In the problem statement, there are two things that become the main problems of this research, which are the efforts to overcome the crime of theft with violence in the jurisdiction of Tenayan Raya Police Station and what are the obstacles in the efforts to overcome the crime of theft with violence in the jurisdiction of Tenayan Raya Police Station. The research method used is an empirical legal research method. This method is carried out by attending the research location directly to obtain information or data related to theft with violence in the jurisdiction of Tenayan Raya Police Station. The analysis of the results showed that the attempts of Tenayan Raya Police in handling the crime of theft with violence were carried out in three ways, pre-emtif which was carried out by appealing and providing socialization or counseling to the community, preventive by conducting routine patrols in the context of community security, and repressive, such as arrests and profiling the perpetrator. Meanwhile, the obstacles encountered are the few witnesses and the limited information about the perpetrators.
