Abstract

Efforts of the Siak Regency Transportation Department in Regulating Illegal Travel to Anticipate Criminal Acts (Case Study of Tualang District Travel Route Perawang-Pekanbaru) ABSTRACT GaizkaAlghifary Transportation plays a vital role in driving the economy and public mobility in Indonesia. One of the transportation sectors frequently used in daily life is land transportation, which, according to its use, is divided into two types: private and public transportation. Several literature studies highlight that most private cars used for transportation, especially in travel services, often operate without valid route permits. This research can be considered a qualitative descriptive study aimed at collecting data through informants, observations, and data which are then presented in the form of a research report in accordance with the established research concept. The efforts of the Siak Regency Transportation Department in regulating illegal travel to anticipate criminal acts on the Perawang-Pekanbaru route can be concluded that although various efforts have been made, the effectiveness of enforcement is still limited. The Transportation Department has identified various forms of illegal travel and implemented strategies such as routine patrols, checkpoints, and cooperation with the Siak Police. However, challenges such as limited personnel, budget, and the vast area of supervision have resulted in only about 40% of illegal travel being successfully detected.
