Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a contribution of arm muscle strength and hand-eye coordination to the ability of volleyball underhand serve in extracurricular students of SMP Negeri 12 Pekanbaru. Sampling was done using the total sampling technique, totaling 13 people. The instruments used were strength tests, hand-eye coordination tests and underhand serve tests. Data analysis used product moment correlation and to find the contribution of each variable using the coefficient of determination formula. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a contribution of arm muscle strength to the ability of volleyball underhand serve in extracurricular students of SMP Negeri 12 Pekanbaru, but it is less significant because the large contribution of arm muscle strength to underhand passing is r count = 0.35 <r table = 0.55 with a percentage of 13%. There is a contribution of hand-eye coordination to the ability of volleyball underhand service in extracurricular students of SMP Negeri 12 Pekanbaru but it is less significant because the large contribution of hand-eye coordination to underhand passing is r count = 0.27 <r table = 0.55 with a percentage of 7%. And there is a contribution of arm muscle strength and hand-eye coordination to the ability of volleyball underhand service in extracurricular students of SMP Negeri 12 Pekanbaru Where r count = 0.45 <r table = 0.55 there is a contribution of 19%.
