Abstract
A village is a legal community unit that has territorial boundaries and is authorized to regulate and manage government affairs and the interests of local communities based on community initiatives. The aim of this research is to determine the leadership style of the village head in Life Baru Village, Kampar Kiri Tengah District and to find out the leadership style of the village head who encourages reviewing development in Life Baru Village, Kampar Kiri Tengah District. The formulation of the problem in this research is what is the leadership style of the village head in Life Baru Village in building the village market in Life Baru Village, Kampar Kiri Tengah District, Kampar Regency and which village head’s leadership style is dominant in development in Life Baru Village, Kampar Kiri Tengah District? The research method that will be used is qualitative research which describes or explains the leadership style of the village head regarding the implementation of development in Life Baru Village, Kampar Kiri Tengah District, Kampar Regency. Data collection techniques in this research were to obtain relevant data as expected in the research objectives, data collection techniques were used, namely observation, interviews and documentation. From the results of this research, the head of the new life village has an authoritarian nature, it is said to be authoritarian, where in carrying out his role as head of the new life village, the leadership carried out is not good, his roles are such as conflict resolution, the role of decision making, the role of conveying information, the role of influencing, as well as the role of building relationships in communicating is not very reflective of being a leader, because there are many promises and assumptions that are not carried out well. Suggestions from this research are that a leader must establish good relationships in his leadership, because a leader is a protector and decision maker for whoever he leads. Moreover, for a leader in administering government, his leadership will have an impact on society.
