Abstract

Moral values are the core of basic human norms that help support and uphold principles of right and wrong in human behavior. They serve as a guide to determine whether actions are good or bad, ensuring ethical conduct in society. The purpose of this study is to explore the moral values in the Damsel movie. This research focuses on analyzing dialogues that convey moral lessons and ethical considerations. To achieve this, the study applies the theoretical framework proposed by Linda and Eyre. In conducting this research, the researcher employed a descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data. The study focused on understanding the moral values presented in the Damsel movie. Data collection was carried out through observation techniques and documentation. This involved carefully watching the movie and meticulously reading its script. These steps ensured a thorough and detailed examination of the dialogues containing moral values. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative method to collect data, employing observation techniques by watching the Damsel movie and analyzing the script in detail. The study found that twelve moral values are represented in the movie: honesty, courage, peace ability, self-confidence, self-discipline, fidelity, loyalty, respect, love and affection, unselfishness, kindness, and justice. Among these, the most depicted moral values are honesty, courage, and respect, which appear in multiple scenes. These findings highlight the importance of moral values in the narrative of Damsel and their role in the character development of Elodie, the main protagonist. This study contributes to understanding how films can communicate ethical lessons and inspire reflection on moral behavior in real-life contexts.
