Abstract
Basic teaching skills equip the teacher to convey subject matter so that it is right on target because no matter how perfect and ideal the curriculum is, without being balanced with the teacher's ability to implement it, the curriculum is not optimal. This study aims to determine the relationship between the basic teaching skills of openingand closing learning on the learning motivation of fourth grade students at SD Islam Plus YLPI Pekanbaru. This type of research is quantitative research using a correlationapproach. The population and sample of this study were students of class IV (A&B) at SD Islam Plus YLPI Pekanbaru, totaling 40 students. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, observation, and documentation. Instrument testing uses validity and reliability. Descriptive analysis in this study used descriptive statistical analysis and correlation statistical analysis. For analysis prerequisite test namely normality test, linearity test, homogeneity test. While testing the hypothesis of this study using the Ttest, and test the coefficient of determination. It was concluded from the results of the study that there was a significant relationship between skills & opening and closing learning on student learning motivation which showed a significance value of 0.002 <0.05 which indicated that variables (X) and variables (Y) both contributed 21% and the rest is influenced by other factors that are not included in this study.
