Abstract

The research area is Barangin District, Sawahlunto City, West Sumatra. The purpose of this study is to determine geomorphological characteristics, know morphotectonic characteristics, to determine the level of relative tectonic activity, and to determine the relationship of geomorphology with the level of relative tectonic activity. In general, field morphotectonic analysis includes general geomorphological observations and observations, measuring and determining morphotectonic characteristics. The level of relative tectonic activity in the study area consists of Class 2 to Class 4.Class 2 is the level of tectonic activity is relatively high, Class 3 is the level of tectonic activity is relatively medium and Class 4 is the level of tectonic activity is relatively low.Class 2 is characterized by indications of tectonic movements or traces of teconic activity that are very significant in the past such as faults or ridges resulting from folds in the study area. Class 3 has characteristics of fault tracks and residual erosion residues in morphology in the study area, grade 4 has characteristics of erosion dominance in the study area marked by ridges that are eroded in the study area
