Abstract

Geographically, the first research area is in Merangin Village, Kuok District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province with coordinates 0°17'43.39"N and 100°53'13.84"E. The second research area is in Pangkalan Village, Pangkalan Kotobaru District, Limapuluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra with coordinates 0°04'27.40"N and 100°44'31.05"E. The aim of this research is to determine the results of petrography, XRF tests and compressive strength (Uniaxial Strength). From the analysis of 7 samples, 3 sandstone samples and 4 andesite samples, in petrological and petrographic tests on sandstone samples at points 1 to 3, the petrographic name for sandstone was obtained based on Pettijohn's (1975) classification, namely Greywake. In the petrological and petrographic tests on andesite samples at points 1 to 4, the petrographic designation of Andesite was obtained based on the IUGS (1973) classification, namely Andesite. In the XRF test, sandstone had the highest SiO2 average value. The graph shows that the most abundant element in sandstone is SiO2 64.63% and the least abundant element is MnO 0.00% and Na2O 0.51%. In the XRF test andesite has the highest SiO2 average value. The graph shows that the most abundant element in sandstone is SiO2 44.66% and the least element is MnO 0.20% and Na2O 0.61% and in the compressive strength test (Uniaxial Strength) the concrete compressive strength test results were obtained with values The average for sandstone is 11.70 Mpa and andesite is at 19.25 Mpa. What influences the compressive strength test in a mixture of concrete materials is the bond between the grains, In terms of strength, andesite in the form of split stone sizes influences the compressive strength test in concrete mixtures more than sandstone because of its interlocking properties.
