Abstract

The research area is at coordinates 100°51'4.13"E- 100°52'41"E and 0°20'59.69"S 0°22'38.32"S. Administratively, this includes roads across West Sumatra Province and Riau Province, especially Merangin Region, Kuok District, Kampar Regency, Riau. The aim of this research is to determine several geological aspects, namely to determine the types of rocks in the research area, to determine the distribution of rocks in the research area, to determine the lithology that develops in the research area. The methods used start from field sampling, rock description, petrographic analysis, potential flooding. Based on petrological analysis, the research area is divided into 2 lithologies, namely sandstone and siltstone. Petrographically, 2 lithologies were obtained, namely sandstone with brownish black gray xpl color, colorless ppl color, non-foliated structure (granulose), granoblastic texture. Phyllite with colorless ppl, gray xpl, foliation structure (phylitic), granolepidoblastic texture. The lithological distribution consists of two rocks, namely mudstone which is distributed in the northern part of the research area, while sandstone is distributed in the northeast - southwest, north and northwest parts of the research area.
