Abstract

Indonesia is located at the meeting point of three world tectonic plates, namely the Australian, Eurasian and Pacific plates. The physical location of Maluku Island, which is in the eastern part of Indonesia, precisely on the Banda microplate, has a quite unique shape which has become known as the Banda shadow. This banda shadow reflects that the area is an active tectonic area, the result of the movement of three plates that are pushing against each other. The author's main aim was to conduct this research with the aim of producing a North Maluku earthquake scenario map. Then, it is hoped that this earthquake seismicity map will become a map of the North Maluku earthquake that has high definition and is easy to understand by other researchers and the wider community. The earthquake seismicity map was produced by mapping the tectonic landscape using SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) imagery with a size of 30 m for the area. The research method used is research using secondary data, then interpreted by the author based on the research objectives to be achieved. Then the schematic compilation process is carried out, calculations using formulas, satellite image extraction. After that the data is processed into several necessary software. The results and conclusions of this research, namely the Seismic Map presented, are the result of precise calculations and measurements. Correlation between structural data, previous and newly mapped layers is used to increase the accuracy of mapping data in the area. The corrected structural map is then used to develop an earthquake scenario map that is easier to understand. This research shows that North Maluku Island has a complex structure, the shape of the island itself is controlled by faults.
