Abstract
Crime is a complex phenomenon that can be understood from various different angles. That's why in everyday life we can catch various comments about crime incidents that are different from each other. The main problem in this research is what factors cause the emergence of motorbike theft crimes in the legal area of the Bukit Raya Police and what are the police's efforts in handling motorbike theft crimes in the legal area of the Bukit Raya Police. This type of research is empirical legal research using observational or field research by means of direct surveys in the field. The type of data used in this research comes from primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained through interviews with the Head of the Bukit Raya Police, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bukit Raya Police. Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained from the results of library research. The nature of this research is analytical descriptive which provides an overview of a research object through the data that has been collected. Based on the research results, it can be understood that the factors that cause the crime of motorbike theft are committed by the perpetrator to fulfill needs or urges based on pleasure or urgent needs. The factors that cause theft to occur in the jurisdiction of the Bukit Raya Police are factors from the victim, whether negligence. in looking after goods and so on. Meanwhile, the police's efforts to deal with motorbike theft crimes in the Bukit Raya Police jurisdiction have been carried out well, namely by taking pre-emptive action, in which case the action taken by the West Dumai Police is prioritizing appeals and approaches to the community as well as taking preventive action in In this case, the action taken by the police is the existence of Bhabinkamtibnas.
