Abstract

The watermelon plant (Citrullus vulgaris) is a climbing plant native to the southern African desert. Watermelonis a fruit crop that is susceptible to pest and dieses attacks. Diseases in watermelon plants result in reduced yields, making it difficult for farmers to achieve maximum yields during the plants growth period. Therefore, we need a system that can accurately and efficiently identify diseases on watermelon leaves. Identifying diases on watermelon plant leaves using image processing is needed to recognize the types of diseases that attack in general, namely Anthracnose and downy mildew. The identification process begins with image undergoes a preprocessing stage through resizing and median filtering methods. In the next stage, segmentation is carried out using the HSV (Hue, Saturation and Value) color space thresholding method. Next, the image is feature extracted using the Gray Level Co-Occurrence (GLCM) method, after which the feature extraction results will be processed at the classification stage using KNearest Neighbor (KNN). This System succeeded in identifying image data on watermelon plant leaves with an accurscy rate of 91%. through this identification process, it can be concluded that the system is able to identify diseases on watermelon plant leaves well, and cn differentiate types of disease easily.
