Abstract

Population density is an important indicator for measuring the level of development and progress of a region. The higher the population density, the denser the settlements will be, causing traffic jams and air pollution. Rokan Hulu city/regency consists of 17 sub-districts including: (1) Rokan IV Koto, (2) Pendalian IV Koto, (3) Tandun, (4) Kabun, (5) Ujung Batu, (6) Rambah Samo, (7) Rambah, (8) Rambah Hilir, (9) Bangun Purba, (10) Tambusai, (11) Tambusai Utara, (12) Kefullan, (13) Kefullan Hulu, (14) Kunto Darussalam, (15) Pagaran Tapah Darussalam, ( 16) Bonai Darussalam, (17) Rokan Hulu. Therefore, it is important to predict the population density in each city/district. The method in this research uses the Linear Regression method. Linear Regression is a prediction method using two variables x (year) and y (population density). The results of testing the model using the Mean Absolute Percentage Error in predicting population density using the linear regression method was 34.076%.
