Abstract
The Malay culture features a variety of dance arts, including the Serampang XII dance. Developed by Guru Sauti, this dance conveys meaningful messages and moral values through its 12 distinctive movements. This traditional Malay dance is taught to students the Sendratasik Education Program at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Islamic University of Riau, using books, lecturers, or experienced individuals. However, the limitations of these learning media have led to a decrease on quality information, resulted in changes to the movements. This application utilizes augmented reality technology with the aim of preserves Malay dances by documenting the authenticity of the dance movements, making the learning process more interesting and efficient as it can be accessed anytime and anywhere. The research method used in the development of the application is the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC). The application is built using Blender and Unity software, and incorporates the ARCore SDK as a library. Research conducted through a series of tests shows that within a distance of 15 - 200 cm, 3D animated objects can be displayed on flat, textured, and uneven surfaces, both indoor and outdoor, with a minimum lighting condition of 15 - 17 lux. Out of the 31 respondents involved, 86.45% rated the application as "very good" and worth to publicate as a learning medium and a reference base for studying dance movements through digital medium, specifically on Android-based mobile application.
