Abstract
The bono waves, which were initially considered mystical by the community, were eventually used as a vehicle for water sports. In the end, the Bono waves were made by the Regency Tourism Office as a tourist attraction. Various water sports events have been held that are able to attract tourists, both local and foreign tourists. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the Teluk Meranti Tourism Awareness Group in Assisting the Local Government in the Development of Bono Tourism in Pelalawan Regency. This research method uses qualitative research methods as a technique for data collection and direct interviews with informants Chair of the Teluk Meranti Tourism Awareness Group, Pelalawan Regency Tourism Office, Teluk Meranti Sub-District Head, Communities around the Bono tourist attraction, Bono Tourism Visitors. The results of the study show that the role of the Teluk Meranti Tourism Awareness Group in Assisting the Local Government in the Development of Bono Tourism has been going quite well, but there are still weaknesses. regarding tourism Pokdarwis is the center for validating information in the field but the policy making will be carried out if other elements are fulfilled such as budgets and so on, the two indicators of the role of Pokdarwis as a strategy are quite appropriate because Pokdarwis Teluk Meranti is the most important part of the tourism element bono waves although in terms of other strategies it is accompanied by the creation of events and the National Strategic Tourism Area. Even though the third indicator, namely the role as a communication tool carried out by Pokdarwis with the Pelalawan Regency Youth and Sports Tourism Office, is quite good, other forms of communication to the community are still lacking, such as outreach and so on. In this study the researchers found several inhibiting factors such as the form of facilities and infrastructure in the Teluk Meranti area, especially Bono tourism, and also the further inhibiting factor was human resources, in this case the quality of members who became certified tour guides was only 1 person. and also communication between tourism awareness groups and the community is still very lacking such as socialization and so on.
