Abstract

This study aims to determine the correlation between the utilization of the school library and students interest in reading with the science learning achievement of class VIII students of SMP N 10 Pekanbaru. Quantitative research methods. The population of all class VIII SMP N 10 Pekanbaru totaled 265 students. Samples were taken by Random Sampling totaling 132 students. Data collection techniques are questionnaires and interviews. The results showed that there was a correlation between the use of the school library and student achievement in science with a significant value of less than 0.05, namely 0.002 (0.002 <0.05) with a Pearson correlation value of 0.261 indicating a low category relationship. In addition, the results of the study also showed that there was a relationship between reading interest and student achievement in science learning with a significant value less than 0.05, namely 0.017 (0.017 <0.05) with a Pearson correlation value of 0.207 which indicated a relationship with the low category. It can be concluded that the average use of the school library is 54.80% which is in the less category, besides that it can be concluded that 64.89% is in the good category.
