Abstract

THE EFFECT OF GUIDED DISCOVERY METHODS ON RESULTS LEARNING MATHEMATICS CLASS VIII STUDENTS SMP PGRI PEKANBARU LINDA TRIWIRA ASTUTI NPM.196410847 Thesis. Mathematics Education Study Program. FKIP Riau Islamic University Advisor : Drs. Abdurrahman, M.Pd ABSTRACT This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of the guided discovery method on the mathematics learning outcomes of class VIII SMP PGRI Pekanbaru in the 2022/2023 academic year. This research is a quasi-experimental research (quasi-experimental), namely research that aims to investigate causal relationships by giving treatment to one class and comparing the results with one of the classes given different treatment. The research design is Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research population is all SMP PGRI Pekanbaru students. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique. Class VIII B was selected as the experimental class with 20 students and class VIII A was selected as the control class with 18 students. Retrieval of data in this study is to use test questionspretest andposttest. The test is used to see the effect of different treatments on students' mathematics learning outcomes. Based on the results of descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis obtained where = 4.24 > = 2.03 and this means being rejected and accepted, so it can be concluded that there is an effect of the guided discovery method on mathematics learning outcomes for class VIII students of SMP PGRI Pekanbaru.
