Abstract

The Indonesian nation is blessed with abundant wealth in the form of biological natural resources, various types of plants and animals in it. There are so many animals in Indonesia, but Indonesia cannot protect the animals it owns, which causes the animals themselves to be endangered. One factor that threatens these animals is hunting for trade. Even though there are already regulations prohibiting trade in protected animals, which are regulated in law number 5 of 1990 concerning the conservation of living natural resources and their ecosystems. The emergence of PPNS as an institution outside the National Police to assist police duties in carrying out investigations is regulated in the Criminal Procedure Code Article 6 paragraph (1) The main problem is how law enforcement is handled by civil servant investigators (PPNS) of the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BBKSDA) against trade in protected wild animals and the obstacles faced by civil servant investigators (PPNS) of the Natural Resources Conservation Agency. (BBKSDA) in tackling the trade in protected wild animals. This study uses survey legal research, namely by obtaining data from interviews, while it is descriptive-analytic in nature, namely describing events that occurred in the process of enforcing the law on trade in protected animals at the RIAU BBKSDA. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that law enforcement by civil servant investigators (PPNS) of the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BBKSDA) against trade in protected wild animals by means of prevention and prosecution is in accordance with existing regulations, namely the law law number 5 of 1990 concerning the conservation of living natural resources and their ecosystem and law number 8 of 1981 concerning criminal procedural law
