Abstract

The Effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model to Improve The Outcome of Students’ Learning at Grade VIII in Mts S Pondok Pesantren Darul ‘Adaalah Pasar Latong Based from Habits of Mind Sinta Mardia Nasution NPM. 186411069 Thesis. Mathematics Education Study Program. FKIP Riau Islamic University. Main Advisor: Rezi Ariawan, M.Pd ABSTRACT The research has an objective to discover the outcome of students’ learning by using Problem Based Learning (PBL) in Mts S Pondok Pesantren Darul ‘Adaalah Pasar Latong. The method of this research is factorial experimental. The population of this research is the students’ of grade VIII MTs S Darul ‘Adaalah Pasar Latong. The sample of the research is grade VIIIa as an experimental class that the treatment using the Problem Based Learning model and class VIII.b as a control class treatment with a conventional learning model. Data collection techniques used in this study were test techniques (pretest and posttest), questionnaires and documentation. The data obtained were then analyzed using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis in the form of homogeneity tests and t-tests. Based on inferential analysis it can be concluded that:1) there is an influence of the PBL model on students’ mathemathics learning outcemes MTsS Darul ‘Adaalah Pasar Latong, 2) there is the effect of PBL on student learning outcomes in terms of habits of mind (high, medium, low). Thus in general it can be seen that the application of PBL has an effect on student learning outcomes in terms of student habits of mind MTsS DDarul ‘Adaalah Pasar Latong.
