Abstract

Sexual harassment can happen to anyone. Both men and women can be victims or perpetrators of behavior that is considered rude, embarrassing, or intimidating. Sexual harassment doesn't only happen to women. Men can also be victims of sexual harassment. For a long time, women have been seen as vulnerable to becoming victims of sexual harassment. However, in reality, men are equally vulnerable. Cases of sexual harassment against men are now frequently found in open-minded, developed countries. This is not because such cases don't exist in other countries, but because this issue is still considered taboo and shameful. In the thesis, several problem formulations are included: Firstly, What is the role of the Rumbai Pesisir Pekanbaru Police Sector in realizing the effectiveness of legal protection for male victims of sexual harassment. Secondly, What are the obstacles faced by male victims of sexual harassment in obtaining legal protection in the Rumbai Pesisir Pekanbaru Police Sector area. The research method used by the author is the Sociolegal Research method. The nature of the research is descriptive analytical. The research aims to determine the role of the Rumbai Pesisir Pekanbaru Police Sector in realizing the effectiveness of legal protection for male victims of sexual harassment and to identify the obstacles faced by male victims of sexual harassment in obtaining legal protection. The research results indicate that the role of the police sector in protecting these victims has a significant impact on the victims' access to justice. However, in practice, there are several obstacles that can affect the effectiveness of this protection, such as the lack of understanding about male sexual harassment and obstacles for victims, such as social stigma against male victims and feelings of shame or fear to report.
