Abstract

The fire disaster will affect the quality and strength of the concrete resulting in damage that will occur gradually and over a long period of time and it cannot be predicted when this structure will last. This study aims to determine the effect of temperature on the compressive strength of concrete without installation and with the installation of Flex Tape on the compressive strength of concrete after burning, to determine the compressive strength of post-combustible concrete in the Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Test and the condition of concrete after burning using the Phenolphtalein test. The testing method used is experimental testing in the laboratory on the compressive strength of concrete using the Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Test and Phenolphthalein testing with concrete burning temperatures of 300°C, 400°C and 500°C. The results showed that the effect of temperature on the compressive strength of concrete without coating Flex Tape was lower, the higher the combustion temperature, the compressive strength value decreased while the use of Flex Tape on the compressive strength of concrete increased but the effect was not too large on the compressive strength of concrete. The results of the Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Test show that the compressive strength value of the concrete tested by burning at 300oC, 400oC, 500oC has a lower compressive strength value compared to the concrete before burning. The results of the Phenolphthalein test on normal fc'20 concrete did not change, which was gray in color because it is alkaline but the concrete would change to a magenta color after being given a Phenolphthalein solution (PP-test) when concrete was fired at a combustion temperature of 300oC, 400oC, 500oC. This shows that the use of Flex Tape is not intended as concrete reinforcement .
