Abstract

Quizlet is e-flashcard online application or web, which is used to enrich vocabulary. The objective of this research is to find out the significant effect of Quizlet Application on the vocabulary mastery of the eight grade students at SMPN 4 Siak Hulu. This research was a quasi-experimental involved two group experiment; they were experimental group and control group. Population of this research was eight grade students at SMPN 4 Siak Hulu which consist of 440 students. The sample of this research used purposive sampling technique. Experimental group from class VIII-3 consists of 36 students while control group from class VIII-4 consist of 36 students. Experiment class was taught by Quizlet Application while control class without Quzilet Application. Instrument of the research was vocabulary tests. There are 20 questions for pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by using paired simple t-test from SPSS version 26. The finding of the research found that the mean score of experimental class for the pre-test was 64.58 and post-test was 75.69. It indicates there was an increase of the students’ vocabulary after done the treatment using Quizlet application. Meanwhile the t-test gave a value of tcounted was higher than ttable (2.707 > 1.993). It can be concluded the null hypothesis was rejected and alternative hypothesis was accepted. So, there was a significant effect of students’ vocabulary at eighth grade SMPN 4 Siak Hulu by using Quizlet application.
