Abstract

STUDY OF URBAN SPRAWL IN PEKANBARU CITY (CASE STUDY: RUMBAI PESISIR) SALSABILLA PUTRI KESUMA 203410483 ABSTRACT The constant increase in population in the Pekanbaru region will have an impact on the local needs. The decreasing length of the river in the city causes the migration of people to the surrounding or periurban areas. This trend is beginning to resemble the embetan in the outskirts of Pekanbaru City, such as in Rumbai Pesisir Regency. The purpose of this study is to assess the state of urban sprawl in Rumbai Pesisir County in order to understand the changes in the county's physical conditions. Specifically, this includes three main objectives: (l) identifying the characteristics of urban sprawl that occur there; (2) identifying the type of urban sprawl that occurs there; and (3) analyzing the extent of urban sprawl that occurs in Rumbai Pesisir County. The analysis method used in this study is a deskriptif kualitatif and kuantitatif. The kualitatif deskriptif analysis is used to describe the characteristics and types of urban sprawl that are supported by the spatial analysis method. In contrast, a quantitative deskriptif was conducted using the scoring method to determine the extent of urban sprawl in the Pesisir Rumbai District. The result is that (l) coastal Rumbai district meets the characteristics of urban sprawl through the use of separate land such as Rumbay Market which is located away from the settlement centers in the Coastal Rumbai district. The population density is low, making it the sixth of the 12 towns in Pekanbaru City with 442.41 people/km2. Car usage is quite high with 1,759 cars in the Siak-Pekanbaru corridor. (waktu sibuk). (2) The type of urban sprawl is longitudinal and sloping stretches. Longitudinal stretches are found in collector roads such as Yos Sudarsi, Sebilang, Kayangan, Pramuka, Limbungan and other roads. And the leap-up can be seen on each side of the slope. The lengthy intersection becomes the dominant intersession in the coastal Rumbai district. (3) Typology I level (high-spread city) is Threshold River, Limbungan, Dam Peace Valley. Typology 2 level (middle-spred) is Sari Valley and Meranti Pandak Valley and 3 level (low-sped) is Ukai River, Okura Highlands, and New Limbungan.
