Abstract

Limited vocabulary knowledge is a major problem in language learning. This means that it will cause big problem is one does not have a rich vocabulary. The more vocabulary students have mastered, the better they will display their language. Google Classroom can help online learning for junior high school students. Google Classroom in a new tool introduced to help teachers manage the creation and collection of students’ assignments in a paperless environment, essentially leveraging the Drive framework, Google Docs, and other Apps. Google Classroom enable teachers to spend more time with their students and less time working on documents, and now it’s even better. The researcher is interested in analyzing student responses about using Google Classroom in learning vocabulary and to find out there are factors that make it difficult for students to use Google Classroom in learning vocabulary. This study aims to find out how learning vocabulary when using Google Classroom and what factors make it difficult for students to use Google Classroom in learning vocabulary. In this study, researcher used qualitative research. Because, qualitative research aims to explain phenomena through very deep data collection. The population in this study were students of SMP N 2 Utama Karya. The sample was selected trough purposive sampling consisting of 60 students. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire consisting of 5 indicators, the questionnaire was adapted and modified from Shaharenee (2016). The results of this study are presented in the form of descriptive explanations to show that SMP N 2 students feel that Google Classroom is a good medium for learning vocabulary, but students still have difficulty understanding the system in Google classroom. There results can be seen from the percentage of questionnaire answer. The percentage results show that students can still interact and listen well in learning vocabulary using Google Classroom. But there are also many students who don’t understand how to use Google Classroom.
