Abstract

Floods are natural disasters that often occur in areas flowed by rivers. The flood that occurred in Babussalam Village was caused by high rainfall. The importance of adaptation is a form of planned adjustment in dealing with flood disasters. This research aims to identify patterns of community adaptation to flood disasters. This research uses a deductive approach with mixed methods. Describes village conditions and community adaptation patterns, data sources are observations, questionnaires, interviews, documentation and literature studies, analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis and qualitative descriptive analysis. The people of Babussalam Village generally work as traders and private employees, with an average income of less than IDR 1,500,000. Based on the data obtained, there are 4 hamlets affected by flood disasters due to overflowing river water due to high rainfall, namely Nagori Hamlet, Maratugun Hamlet, Darussalam Hamlet, Sebaya Hamlet. The pattern of structural adaptation carried out by Nagori Hamlet, Maratugun Hamlet and Darussalam Hamlet is raising house foundations and cleaning water installations because the hamlet area is the closest to the Batang Lubuh river. Meanwhile, Sebaya Hamlet is carrying out structural adaptations, making flood-protecting embankments and cleaning water installations. Meanwhile, non-structural adaptation in Nagori, Maratugun, Darussalam and Sebaya hamlets involves preparing savings funds and carrying out anticipatory activities that focus on preventing water from entering residents' homes so that residents' valuables are not damaged.
