Abstract
Land carrying capacity is an analysis of physical land factors that can identify potential land that can be developed by looking at favorable physical factors and detrimental physical factors. So it can be assumed that as the population and new settlements increase, it is possible that the carrying capacity of the area's settlements will decrease. Therefore, it is necessary to calculate the carrying capacity of residential land, so that after knowing how big the carrying capacity of the settlement is, control can be carried out on the growth and development of the settlement or the balance of the ecosystem can be controlled. The aim of this research is to identify the existing conditions of residential areas in Tanah Merah Village, identify the land carrying capacity of Tanah Merah Village and formulate directions for developing residential areas based on the land carrying capacity of Tanah Merah Village. This research approach uses an inductive thinking process as a basis. The data used is primary data obtained from field observations and secondary data in the form of data from agencies. The data was analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis and overlap analysis (Overlay). The results of the research show that the carrying capacity of residential land in Tanah Merah Village in 2027 will have an optimal population of 245,691 people with a calculation of land area suitable for settlement of 74,743.82 m2, which shows that the carrying capacity of residential land in Tanah Merah Village is still very high and is still able to accommodate residents to live and build. house there, it can be interpreted that Tanah Merah Village has a residential land capacity that is still relatively high compared to the population, so there is still room for residential development that can be accommodated by the carrying capacity of the existing land. area/zone S1 (very suitable) with an area of around 8.69 km2 and can be developed to a high building density level and area/zone N2 (Not Permanently Suitable) with an area of around 0.43 km2 land suitability direction is not possible in housing and residential areas in Tanah Merah Village.
