Abstract

The development of digital technology has changed the way communication in the entertainment industry, including the interaction between fans and K-Pop idols. One of the platforms that facilitates such communication is the Weverse application, developed by HYBE Corporation. This study aims to analyze how ENHYPEN fans in Pekanbaru use the Weverse application as a medium of communication with K-Pop Idols. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the theory of Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) as a reference to understand how communication occurs in the Weverse application. Determine the informant with a purposive sampling technique consisting of several criteria that have been determined by the researcher. The results of this study show that the Weverse application has an important role in building two-way communication between Idols and their fans. Features such as post posts, comments, and live streaming make fans feel close to their idols even though it takes place virtually. This research contributes to understanding digital technologies and community-based platforms that can strengthen the relationship between idols and their fans.
