Abstract
Pekanbaru is a city that has a pluralistic society, meaning that the city is inhabited by various different ethnic, religious and cultural groups. Plural societies are often formed due to the migration of people from various regions or countries who come to cities for various reasons such as work, study, or looking for a better life. The percentage of religions in Pekanbaru City is Islam 84.53%, Christianity 10.24%, Catholic 1.50%, Buddhism 3.70%, Hindu 0.02%, Confucian 0.01% (Department of Population and Civil Registration Pekabaru City, 2023). The aim of this research is to determine the potential and impediment to religious tourism in tourist destinations in Pekanbaru City. This research uses a deductive approach because the researcher examines common problems based on testing a theory consisting of variables to determine the potential and impediment in the development of religious tourism in Pekanbaru City. The method used in this research uses a quantitative descriptive method to describe the distribution pattern of religious tourist attractions, the potential for religious tourism, and impediment in the development of religious tourism in Pekanbaru City. Based on the Continuum Nearest Neighbor Analysis analysis, the T value obtained is 2.147027. Based on the Continuum Nearest Neighbor Analysis developed in Muta'ali (2015), the T value is more than 1.4 (T > 1.4) and this indicates that the distribution pattern of religious tourist attractions in Pekanbaru City tends to have a uniform pattern. The potential attraction of religious tourism in Pekanbaru City is that there are interesting photo locations/spots with a percentage of 90.20%, the accessibility of potential religious tourism in Pekanbaru City is the presence of good telecommunications signals with a percentage of 89.90%, that the potential religious tourism amenities in Pekanbaru City has clean toilet conditions with a percentage of 89.00%, and ancillary potential for religious tourism in Pekanbaru City is the existence of a management office as a place for information on religious tourism objects with a percentage of 89.90%. The impediment in developing religious tourism in Pekanbaru City is the less of marketing promotion on social media or brochures regarding religious tourism with a percentage of 90.40%.
