Abstract

Intrapersonal Communication in Building the Self-Image of Bujang Dara in Riau Province Welika Maurenza Prista 209110201 As representatives of the young generation who actively promote tourism and local culture, Bujang Dara Riau faces the challenge of balancing their selfimage as teenagers with their social responsibilities. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The informants in this study were the finalists and winners of Bujang Dara Riau Province in 2022 and 202. Intrapersonal communication is a communication process that occurs within an individual, which includes sensation, perception, memory, and thinking. The results of the study show that intrapersonal communication plays an important role in the formation of Bujang and Dara's self-image. The sensation stage shows physical and emotional reactions when playing a role; the perception stage shows how they interpret differences in self-views with others; the memory stage reflects the importance of past experiences in building self-confidence; and the thinking stage describes how individuals evaluate and strategize in representing their self-image. Intrapersonal communication is the main foundation in forming an authentic, positive self-image that is in accordance with the cultural values carried by Bujang and Dara.
