Abstract

The aim of this research is to look at the role of physical education teachers in increasing the learning motivation of students at SMP Negeri 21 Pekanbaru. Based on the results of observations carried out on students at SMP Negeri 21 Pekanbaru, several problems were found which might mean that students' learning motivation was less enthusiastic when participating in the learning process, students were often sleepy when participating in the learning process, there was no motivation to learn, especially for female students when participating in physical education lessons, student interaction. and teachers are not optimal in the learning process which results in a non-conducive atmosphere, teachers who only let students exercise on their own without having to teach. Some of these problems require teachers to play a more extra role in providing motivation in learning. The test used in this research used a questionnaire test or questionnaire test. The sample in this study was 72 people. From the results of tests carried out on students at SMP Negeri 21 Pekanbaru using a questionnaire in accordance with existing indicators, the results were obtained in the category "High" with an average percentage of the role of physical education teachers in increasing student learning motivation of 62.45% which is located in the percentage between the scores 60%-75%.
