Abstract

This research aims to understand the reception patterns of the pubg esports community in riau regarding the sportsmanship of casters towards teams during the pubg mobile broadcast of the 2021 national sports week (Pon). The type of research conducted is qualitative descriptive, prioritizing interviews as the promary data collection tool. The collected data serves as the main material for analyzing the empirical and objective conditions of this study. The informants for this research consist of 5 individuals. The types and techniques of data collection include primary data from observations and in-depth interviews with the Riau pubg mobile community, and secondary data sourced from others, including documents and documentation. The data anslysis technique used is triangulation. Based on the findings from the broadcasts related to the information conveyed by casters Wolfy and Bro Pasta, as well as the functions of casters and their sportmanship towards teams during the esports exhibition of Pon xx Papua 2021 – day 4 pubg mobile grand final, the study employs the Encoding and Decoding theorry. The interpretations of the informant is this study are categorized into dominant hegemony, negotation, and opposition positions, which vary among each informant. Perspectives on the information delivery by casters Wolfy and Bro Pasta during the exhibition of Pon xx Papua 2021 – day 4 pubg mobile grand final, as well as views on the functions of casters and the sportsmanship of casters towards teams in the pubg mobile broadcast of the national sports week xx (Pon) 2021 are discussed
