Abstract

Development in coastal areas in Indonesia today mostly ignores environments such as mangrove fencing for industrial construction or settlements around the coast resulting in abrasion or reversal of coastlines causing sea level rise to land. The city of Dumai is one of the cities that are often affected by abrasion disasters because there are some coastal areas in it. In 2022, the abrasion disaster that hit the coastal area of the city of Dumai caused losses such as land degradation on the coast of roads. The annual land deformation increased to 2.5 meters in width caused by abrasions of ± 142 meters. Based on the background above, the objective of this research is to identify the existing conditions of the coastal area of Dumai City affected by the abrasion disaster as well as to analyse the changes in the coastline with the level of danger of abrasional disaster in the Coastal Region of Dumay City. The research approach used in the study of the analysis of the shift in the line of signs to the level of hazard of abrasion disasters in the coastal area of Dumai City is a quantitative descriptive approach. Based on the results of the research, the conditions existing in the Coastal Region of Dumai City affected by abrasion disaster have varying conditions such as damage to the road network, damage to residential areas that are located in the coastal Region and damage to some structures of disaster mitigation buildings such as wetlands and wave breakers. The coastal area of the City of Dumai, such as the Medang District, has a moderate abrasion hazard with the shape of a straight coastline and has an average length of 18 meters of speed to the back of the coastal line, the West Dumai District with a straight-shaped coastal shape and has a 10 meters average speed length to the bottom of the shore, the city of Dumay District with an equal shape to the right-shore and with a 5.8 meter average speed backward coastal lines, the East Dumai Districts with a line-shape and with an 8.13 meters averaged speed backwards coastal and the Kampai District has a 10.14 meter averaged distance backward shore. The abrasion disaster in the City of Dumai coastal region is also affected by the location of the research area facing the malaka strait, then wave heights as high as 1.25-2.50 meters, wind speed direction of 25-30 km/h or 2.-25 knots.
