Abstract
High-rise buildings have high risks, so they require proper planning. Building planning must include stages such as design planning, load planning, dimension planning, and structural strength planning based on normal forces, shear forces, and moments acting on the structure. The analysis was conducted using finite element software and interaction diagrams to evaluate the column capacity. Earthquake loads were calculated using the Response Spectrum method. The results indicate that the existing columns must meet structural safety criteria, particularly in maintaining strength against additional loads. This study provides a significant contribution to the planning of multi-story building structures by considering aspects of safety, comfort, and compliance with the latest standards. The findings show that the existing columns are still capable of withstanding the combination of axial loads and bending moments under current conditions. However, after the addition of floors, the column capacity significantly decreases. Based on the analysis using SNI 2847-2019, the columns can only support an additional 2 floors, while using SNI 2847-2002, they can support up to 5 additional floors. Adding more floors beyond these limits makes the columns unsafe as the ultimate moment exceeds the nominal capacity, necessitating column strengthening to meet structural safety requirements.
