Abstract

Diesel engine is an internal combustion engine whose ignition process utilizes heat from air compression. As a source of driving force, Diesel engines need fuel, one of which is widely favored by the public, namely Biosolar. Biosolar fuel has the lowest cetane number of Dexlite and Pertamina Dex. A low cetane number can affect the performance of the engine or vehicle to be low or not good. In addition, the combustion of biodiesel is also a supplier of pollutants in the environment. Therefore, to improve the performance and quality of fuel, additives are needed. This additive serves as an enhancer or increases the cetane content of the Diesel fuel used and can also reduce exhaust emissions. In this study, the mixture of additives with CN 48 fuel is adjusted to the recommendations of each additive product, namely 30 ml of Diesel Treatment additive with 56 Liters of Biosolar. 300 ml of Nitro Diesel additive with 60 Liters of Biosolar. This test was conducted using experimental method and using Gas Analyzer tool on Isuzu TLD 54 engine with loading variation of 15 kg, 20 kg and 25 kg. Testing was carried out under the condition of 2000 rpm engine rotation. The data generated include fuel consumption value, calorific value, engine torque, effective shaft power, average pressure, fuel consumption, specific fuel consumption, and exhaust emission content of combustion in the engine.
