Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and self-confidence with achievement motivation among university students who are karate athletes in Riau Province. The background of this research is based on the importance of psychological factors in achieving success. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The sample consisted of 144 athletes who are university students actively participating as karate athletes, selected using a saturated sampling technique. The research instruments included a selfefficacy scale, a self-confidence scale, and an achievement motivation scale. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS) with the help of Smart-PLS 3.0 software. The analysis results showed that self-efficacy has a positive and significant relationship with achievement motivation, with a coefficient value of 0.664, a tvalue of 13.693, and a p-value of 0.000. Self-confidence also has a positive and significant relationship with achievement motivation, with a coefficient value of 0.373, a t-value of 7.008, and a p-value of 0.000. The R-value of 0.779 indicates that self-efficacy and self-confidence together explain 77.9% of the variance in achievement motivation. These findings indicate that karate student-athletes in Riau with high levels of self-efficacy and self-confidence tend to have better achievement motivation.
