Abstract
Students’ Perception of Lecturer’s Teaching Style in Learning Intermediate English Grammar of the Third Semester Students at the English Language Education of FKIP UIR”Department of English Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Islam Riau. Keyword: Students’ Perception, Teaching Style, Grammar In learning grammar, the process of teaching and learning in the third semester students of English language education has used two teaching styles, namely; Classic Teaching Style and Technologist Teaching Style. This research aims to know the students’ perception of lecturer’s teaching style in learning grammar of the third semester students at the English Language Education of FKIP UIR. This research used the descriptive qualitative method. The research sample wa 40 of class 3B at English Language Education of FKIP UIR. The instrument of the research are questionnaires and intervies. To collect the data, the researcher used Paper Form and Voice Record. The total of questions given to respondents was 30 statements using Likert Scale. Meanwhile, the interview used open-ended questions consist of 8 questions. This study found that students have low interest with classic teaching style. In terms of lecturer’s teaching ability, the student have good perception. But still have trouble with their learning achievements. Then, the researcher found that students have positive perception with technologist teaching style. The students have high interest during learning with technologist teaching style means with highest percentage of 75,9%. in relevance, students feel that learning grammar with technologist teaching style is suitable to be applied in the class. It can be concluded that students prefer to learn grammar with technologist teaching style than classic teaching style.
