Abstract

An Analysis of Authentic Materials Used By English Teacher In Teaching English At Grade XII of SMA N 1 Kubu Rokan Hilir. The effectiveness of the material used for language teaching depends largely on how meaningful, relevant and motivating the material for students. This research aimed to figure out the authentic materials used by English teachers at Grade XII of SMAN 1 Kubu Rokan Hilir. The method of this research was qualitative method. Data of the research were collected through observation on the classroom. The data was taken from four English teachers at grade XII and four classrooms. The finding of the research revealed that teachers at grade XII used authentic materials in all skills they thought. The various kinds of authentic materials in teaching English, are :Authentic Audio Visual Material : News on Televison, English Podcast, Short Movie, Cartoon, Radio News, and English talkshow. Authentic Visual Material : Artwork , picture, and Presentation slide. Authentic Printed Material : Magazine, Newspaper, Article, Advertisement, Song Lyric. In conclusion Teachers used Authentic Matetial are varied in Teaching English.
