Abstract
Electrical energy is a primary need in modern society. Almost all aspects of activity require energy as the main driver. One of the efforts to reduce the electricity crisis is the need for alternative energy sources. One alternative energy that can be utilized is the development of gym equipment, one of which is a water rower machine as an alternative power generator. The water rower machine is gym equipment that imitates rowing movements done indoors. The design model for the water rower machine was made by following the body posture of the average Indonesian, namely 200 cm long, 40 cm wide and 25 cm high at the feet. The water rower machine as an alternative power generator uses two types of alternators, including a generator with a maximum number of rotation specifications of 500 rpm which can produce 220 volts of power and a micro hydro generator which uses water as rotational pressure for the generator blades which can produce 12 volts of power. The results of testing the water rower machine showed that electrical energy with 60 liters of water was 0.1656 Joules, the power that could be generated in 1 minute was 0.00276 watts. The work required to use the tool for 1 minute is 588 Joules, the mechanical energy required to use the tool for 1 minute is 2035.2 Joules.
