Abstract
Highways are land transportation infrastructure that includes complementary buildings and equipment intended for traffic. One of the conditions that must be considered in the asphalt mixture for the worn layer is the asphalt content, because this asphalt content will have a big influence on the service life of the road pavement layer. Based on the 2018 general specifications, it has been indicated that the asphalt content tolerance is ± 0.3% of the total mixture weight. One way to find out the asphalt content in the worn layer asphalt mixture used in the field is to directly test the asphalt content in the mixture using asphalt extraction testing. This aims to determine the cause of loss of asphalt content in the mixture (AC-WC) by using different solutions as a reference so that a more effective solution can be identified for extraction testing. This research aims to determine the effect of comparing the types of Pertamax and Pertamax Turbo solutions on the asphalt content of the extraction results. In this study, Pertamax and Pertamax Turbo were used as asphalt extraction solvents. Where Pertamax has a RON (Research Octane Number) value of 92, and Pertamax Turbo has an RON value of 98, which is a relatively high value compared to Gasoline (Premium) which has an octane value of 88 with the aim of knowing the value of the extracted asphalt content. The method used is to test the asphalt content and asphalt mixture using a centrifuge based on SNI 03-6894-2002. After testing the extraction results, the average comparison value for asphalt extraction content was obtained as follows: Pertamax Turbo Asphalt Content (average) > Pertamax Asphalt Content (average) with a value of 5.4% > 5%. Where the deviation value for Pertamax Turbo is 0.5% and Pertamax is 0.4%. Meanwhile, the reduction in asphalt content value for Pertamax Turbo was 0.5% and Pertamax was 0.4% from the planned asphalt content value, namely 5.8%. It was concluded that the solvent that could completely dissolve asphalt was Pertamax Turbo due to its maximum combustion.
