Abstract

The extremely rapid population growth and significant industrial sector development in Pekanbaru City have directly increased the need for wastewater management that is not only efficient, but also sustainable and environmentally friendly. UPT PAL Pekanbaru, fully responsible for wastewater management in this urban area, faces complex challenges in the wastewater pipeline distribution system, including consistently increasing waste volumes that exceed existing capacity and the increasingly impactful effects of climate change on urban infrastructure. This research aims to comprehensively analyze the wastewater pipeline network system from the Pump Station to UPT PAL Pekanbaru by utilizing EPANET 2.0 software to model the pipeline network in detail and determine the most optimal and efficient pump configuration. The research methodology employed a comprehensive quantitative analysis through a series of in-depth field observations and hydraulic parameter calculations of the pipeline system, with a special focus on the Tenayan Raya District, which demonstrates significant development and population growth characteristics. A systematic assessment of the wastewater distribution system was conducted with the primary objective of maintaining environmental health quality and improving sustainable urban sanitation. The research performed calculations and analyses of various complex technical parameters, including wastewater discharge, optimal pipe diameter calculation, flow velocity measurement, headloss evaluation, hydraulic gradient calculation, and pressure analysis occurring within the entire pipeline system. Research findings revealed a wastewater discharge of 12,091.68 m³/s in the Tenayan Raya District with a population of 100,764 inhabitants. The average daily wastewater discharge was recorded at 0.13995 m³/s, while peak discharge reached 0.1459 m³/s. The optimal pipe diameter required was 380 mm. Headloss analysis showed variations with a maximum value of 1.49 m/km and a minimum of 0.33 m/km. The research concludes that the wastewater pipeline distribution system at UPT PAL Pekanbaru has been designed with adequate capacity, though several pipeline segments with relatively high headloss require special attention in operational and maintenance processes.
