Abstract
The growth of infrastructure development in Indonesia is very rapid, especially road and housing construction. The quality of roads and residential land will be good if supported by good basic soil conditions. To ensure optimal bearing capacity, the clay used was taken from Jl. Siak II, Grand Mosque Area, Riau Province, Pekanbaru, which has problems with the bearing capacity of the soil, causing the construction buildings above to experience a slope, the soil samples will undergo a stabilization process using a mixture of Spent Bleaching Earth (SBE) and Matos as a stabilization support material. Therefore, the aim of this research is to determine the effect of Spent Bleaching Earth (SBE) and Matos as stabilizing materials to increase the CBR value. The soil stabilization method is one method used to improve the condition of the original soil. The soil bearing strength value that is considered good is when the bearing strength value resulting from laboratory testing is greater than 6% and the bearing strength value resulting from field testing is greater than 3%. In this research, the mixture variation used was 22.5% Spent Bleaching Earth (SBE) and 1% Matos. Apart from that, the variations in curing time used were 0, 4, and 7 days, and the soaking time used was 4 days. Based on testing, it was found that the CBR value of the original soil which was stabilized using a mixture of 22.5% SBE and 1% Matos during the 0 day curing period was 4.14%, during the 4 day curing period it was 3.63%, and during the 7 day curing period is 1.34%, and during the 4 day soaking period it is 1.71%. Comparing the CBR value between the original soil which was stabilized using 22.5% SBE and the original soil which was stabilized using 1% Matos, the results obtained were that the CBR value of the original soil + 22.5% SBE at 0 day curing was 7.94%, at 4 curing days amounted to 7.1%, and for 7 days of curing it was 3.13% and for 4 days of soaking it was 5.97%. The CBR value of the original soil + 1% Matos at 0 days of curing was 5.97%, at 4 days of curing was 3.93%, and at 7 days of curing was 1.88%, and at 4 days of immersion was 2.67%. It can be concluded that the CBR value on original soil + 22.5% SBE is higher than original soil + 1% Matos. This shows that this test does not meet laboratory testing standards with a supporting strength of greater than 6%.
