Abstract
A sacrificial anode is a corrosion countermeasure that utilizes a galvanic series to select a material that, when combined with the metal, will be protected. In electrochemical corrosion there are two reactions of metal oxidation (anode) and reduction (cathode). A metal structure that has a sacrificial anode applied to its surface will function as an anode in a corrosive environment. This research aims to determine the anode size that provides efficient corrosion protection. The corrosion rate measurement method used is the weight loss method. the composition of the beam anode was 1:1,2:1,3:1 and the cylinder anode was 1:1,2:1,3:1 and tested for 7 days and the weight loss rate of corrosion was calculated. The results of the research showed that the highest corrosion rate was on the beam anode with a ratio of 2:1, and the lowest was on the cylindrical anode with a ratio of 3:1, on the cathode which had the lowest corrosion rate on the cathode paired with the cylinder with a ratio of 2:1 with a value of amounting to 6.31728%.
