Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using the rote learning method on improving the ability to memorize Arabic vocabulary among seventh-grade students at Bina Integrated Islamic Junior High School in Pekanbaru.This research is an ex post facto study using a quantitative approach. The population consisted of 51 seventh-grade students at Bina Integrated Islamic Junior High School in Pekanbaru. Data collection techniques included questionnaires, documentation, and interviews. The research instrument was a questionnaire consisting of 26 items, which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out using simple linear regression techniques with the SPSS version 27 program.The research findings revealed that:(1) There is a significant effect of the rote learning method on the ability to memorize Arabic vocabulary, as indicated by an F value of 30.359 with a statistical significance of 0.000 (p < 0.05);(2) The effect size is reflected in the correlation coefficient (R) of 0.619, which falls within the “strong” category, and a coefficient of determination (R Square) of 0.383, meaning that the rote learning method contributes 38.3% to students' ability to memorize Arabic vocabulary;(3) The relationship between the two variables is positive, with the regression equation Y = 5.218 + 0.929X, indicating that every one-unit increase in the use of the rote learning method leads to a 0.929-unit increase in the ability to memorize Arabic vocabulary.
