Abstract
Arabic learning was often considered difficult and boring by some students. Therefore, a method was needed to increase activeness and interaction during the learning process. One effective method to create an active learning environment was the question-and-answer method. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the implementation of the question-and-answer method and students’ activeness in learning Arabic at Future Islamic Junior High School Pekanbaru. This research used a quantitative method with a correlational approach. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The data source for this research consisted of 39 students. The data analysis techniques used in this study included validity and reliability tests, assumption tests, Pearson correlation analysis, and hypothesis formulation. The results of the study showed that the implementation of the question-and-answer method was well executed, and students demonstrated the indicators of active learning. Based on the data processing and analysis conducted by the researcher, the significance probability value was found to be less than 0.05, namely 0.00 < 0.05, indicating a significant relationship between the question-and-answer method and students’ activeness in learning Arabic at Future Islamic Junior High School Pekanbaru.
