Abstract

The Effectiveness of Make-A-Match Method on Students’ Interest in Learning Arabic in Class I Wustho at The Baitul Qur’an Islamic Boarding School of Riau 182710085 Faculty of Islamic Studies Islamic University of Riau Learning Arabic is often considered difficult and boring by some students due to the lack of interest in learning. Therefore, a method is needed that can increase students’ interest in learning Arabic. One method that has succeeded in creating an active and enjoyable learning atmosphere is Make-A-Match method. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Make-A-Match method on students’ interest in learning Arabic in class I Wustho at the Baitul Qur’an Islamic Boarding School of Riau. This was an experimental study with a quantitative method. The data collection techniques of the study were questionnaire and test. The population of the study consisted of 39 students who were divided into two classes, namely class IA as the experimental class and class IB as the control class. The Make-A-Match method was applied in the experimental class while the Qowaid waltarjamah method was applied in control class. The data analysis techniques of the study were normality test, homogeneity test and t-test. The results of the study showed that there was an effectiveness of Make-A-Match method on students’ learning interest after the pre-test and post-test were carried out in the experimental class than in the control class which was applied the Qowaid waltarjamah method. Based on the results of data processing and analysis carried out by the researcher, the significance value was less than 0.05, namely 0.001 <0.05. In conclusion, there was an effectiveness of Make-A-Match method on students’ interest in learning Arabic in class I wustho at the Baitul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School.
