Abstract
The rapid development of technology to date has resulted in people's lives becoming more effective and efficient, one of which is technological developments in the field of roofing systems. This research aims to design a roofing system which will have the benefit of making it easier for people in rainy and hot weather to work automatically with the help of microchips and sensors. In this research, three sensor units were used, namely a rain sensor, a light sensor and a distance sensor with an Arduino Uno microchip unit. Test results: Rain sensors, light sensors and distance sensors work automatically based on sensors and microchips. The results of testing the power of the rain sensor, light sensor and distance sensor when the roofing is open have the same results when the roofing is closed, namely 0.252 Watts, 0.516 Watts and 0.798 Watts and when moving closed it has the same results when moving open, namely 0.315 Watts , 0.731 Watts and 0.820 Watts. The power obtained increases when the roof is open and closes because the conditions when the sensor operates require a large voltage and electric current, thereby increasing the electrical power. The results of the automatic roofing system design performance were 83.92% obtained from the overall sensor power efficiency.
