Abstract

This research is very important to do, especially to anticipate efforts to deal with traffic accidents by the Pekanbaru Police traffic unit considering the increasing number of traffic accidents that cause fatalities in the jurisdiction of the Pekanbaru City Police. Based on the large number of cases of criminal acts of traffic accidents on the highways that have resulted in deaths, to find out the causative factors of criminal cases of traffic accidents on the highways that have resulted in death, the authors are interested in conducting a comprehensive study through a research in the form of a thesis on " Handling Traffic Accident Crimes Causing Victims to Death in the Legal Area of the Pekanbaru City Police Based on this phenomenon, this study aims to examine and analyze Efforts to Overcome Traffic Accidents that Cause Victims to Death in the Legal Area of the Pekanbaru City Police and the Causes of Traffic Accident Crimes that Cause Victims to Death in the Legal Area of the Pekanbaru City Police. This research is included in the normative juridical and empirical juridical research groups. The normative juridical approach is legal research that places law as a building system of norms. Empirical juridical research is research that has the object of study regarding the prevention of traffic accident crimes that cause victims to die in the jurisdiction of the Pekanbaru City Police. Research results: First, the factors that cause accidents are divided into two, namely internal factors and external factors. The internal factor is human error. While External Factors include natural factors, vehicle factors and road factors. Second, the efforts made by the Pekanbaru Police Unit in preventing and overcoming traffic accidents, among others, by making preventive efforts, among others, by making better coordination with various parties related to this problem, conducting legal counseling by means of a family approach to the community. carrying out routine tasks, such as being alert to accident-prone places and carrying out integrated operations or raids. Then for repressive efforts to be carried out is to apply existing rules appropriately, both those in the Criminal Code and outside the Criminal Code.
