Abstract

Tilapia business in Pangean District is one of the agricultural businesses and one of the sources of income for farmers. This business must be developed to improve the economy of tilapia farmers, especially in increasing family income, of course, a way is needed to improve the advanced fishing business. This study aims to analyze: (1) Characteristics and business profiles of tilapia farmers and entrepreneurs, (2) Tilapia farming techniques, (3) Production factors, costs, production, income, efficiency and BEP. The method used in this research is the survey method. Respondents were taken using simple random sampling technique, which amounted to 45 samples. This research was conducted in Pangean District, Kuantan Singingi Regency from March to August 2023. Data analysis was done with descriptive analysis. The results showed: First, the characteristics of tilapia farmers in Pangean District include the age of farmers in productive age, 3 years of education, small number of family dependents and 7 years of farming experience. Business profile, pond area 1,030.56 m3, capital of Rp 7,444,444.44, and production 1. Second, tilapia farming techniques in Pangean Subdistrict are in accordance with the theory, namely pond preparation, liming, pond drying, filling water in the pond, stocking seeds, feeding, controlling pests and diseases and harvesting, Third, the use of production factors for tilapia business in Pangean Subdistrict, namely pond area, seeds, PF500 feed, STP feed, medicines, lime, gasoline and labor. Tilapia production costs consist of fixed costs including pond depreciation and tool depreciation and variable costs including seeds, feed, medicines, lime and gasoline. In the tilapia business in Pangean subdistrict, the highest cost is the cost of feed and the business is profitable.
