Abstract

This research was motivated by the low emotional intelligence among some students in Grade VIII at Khoiru Ummah Tahfizh Islamic Boarding School Kampar. Several issues were identified, such as inadequate communication skills, including nervousness, anxiety when expressing opinions, quietness, and lack of empathy. This study aimed to determine the influence of problem-based learning model on students' emotional intelligence in Grade VIII at Khoiru Ummah Tahfizh Islamic Boarding School Kampar. This research used a quantitative correlational method. The population and sample consisted of all students in Grade VIII A and VIII B, totaling 28 students. Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation. The results of this study showed that the hypothesis test produced a significance value of p = 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the problem-based learning model had an influence on students' emotional intelligence in Grade VIII at Khoiru Ummah Tahfizh Islamic Boarding School Kampar. The level of influence of the problem-based learning model on emotional intelligence was low (0.393 or 39.3%). It was predicted that if the implementation of the problem-based learning model was improved, it could contribute to increasing students' emotional intelligence by 58.4%. Thus, it could be concluded that there was an influence of the problem-based learning model on the emotional intelligence of Grade VIII students at Khoiru Ummah Tahfizh Islamic Boarding School.
